What Has 2011 Done for you Lately?

A third of the year has already passed!

What the hell has happened to my “resolutions?!” Well, I will tell you.

In January, I wrote that I wanted to do things to help me feel the following:

CONFIDENT

ENERGETIC

INDEPENDENT

I said I would buy small bottles of wine instead of big ones. I would try to bum cigarettes less. I would eat better and move more, and all that hoopla. I would follow my passion and continue to write. I would write my way out of my full-time job eventually, dammit. (This part related to the INDEPENDENT adjective above there.)

And, I would NOT commit to swearing less.

My update:

I fit in some pre-pregnancy jeans – how is that for confident and energetic (and damn sexy)?! In order to get there, I ate a whole lot better, and moved a little bit more. I bought smaller bottles of wine and drank wine on less days! Unfortunately, I kind of take almost any opportunity to bum a cigarette, but no one is perfect, for crying out loud.

To illustrate:

One Friday morning before work, my husband shouted, “Look at Mommy in her hot jeans!” (He knows what’s good for him.)

Parker, replied, “My pants are just warm.”

My confidence is getting so much better that I often think of the scene from Pulp Fiction when the robber is going to fish Samuel L. Jackson’s wallet out of the trash bag.

The robber says, “Which wallet is yours?”

Samuel L. Jackson coolly replies, “It’s the one that says Bad Mother Fucker.”

(Obviously, I have continued to enjoy my right to swear at ripe opportunities - when little ears are not around.)

I have not written my way out of a job yet. I still want to work on that one. There’s only so much work place drama you can endure before your heart shrivels into a prune, sucked dry and unavailable for any patience and understanding.

So, for the rest of this year, I am ready to continue on my way to Bad Ass Mother Fucker-ness! I will write more, wear hot jeans, and keep moving my bad ass through 2011 MY way!

Thanks for the visit :)

Warm pants…too funny! Of course when it's a toddler, my mind instantly goes to "warm from…?" And I hope it's just a little pee.

I cleaned out my spice rack today. I'm sure that there was a point in the past when I was saying F()c< cuz I couldn't find something in there...... so I guess that's progress anyway. I also became a Shutterfly GURU and won some cash for my photo book idea in a contest. Those weren't definite goals, but hey, gotta give myself a pat on the back for at least coming up with a few wonderful things I've accomplished. I also started a group on FACEBOOK for SCD (my whacko diet plan) and I have 788 members. Cool.

Okay, I'm not fooling anyone, but I am starting a list today. I'll get back to you about accomplishing goals that I actually MADE. Great post. So glad that we are more than just VIRTUAL friends. Love ya,

KB

You do know wine is good for you. A glass a day keeps the doctor away. Oh sure I swiped that from the apple people, but I think since wine comes from grapes and grapes are fruit it should all count.

Yay, you are in your hot jeans!

And good work on the small bottles of wine. I'm working on a big one already today. :)

I needed this inspiration tonight! I just ate dinner from a "small" plate after trying on a bunch of pants & shorts yesterday...and only buying a skirt. I need some hot jeans.

Way to go! So much easier to lose weight an move more while you're still reasonalby young. I wish I had back then. It's a lot tougher at 66.

Pre-pregnancy! You rock. Nice work! That's very impressive.

I didn't make any new years resolutions (I am more of a birthday resolutions type person)...

Good for you for sticking to your resolutions and getting back into the hot jeans.

Nice Job! It always feels great to knock out those resolutions...and fit in to skinny jeans...and feel like a bad ass.
Thanks for following!

Excellent!

I think you need that wallet. I think we all do.

PS I'm thrilled you're not giving up swearing. It's a great club to be in, right?

OOOH, pre-pregnancy jeans?? I am uber jealous.

I gotta say though, this has been a good year, jeans or not. I found some great yoga pants to replace my maternity pants, got published, and got into grad school. Yippeee.

Maybe if I stopped eating chocolate and drinking beer I could get into those old pants...Nah...

I no longer make resolutions. I say thank you for my accomplishments of the past year, work out what I would do tomorrow, and then I am done. Seriously, my days are unplannable, why would I want to make a plan for 12 months ahead.
Having said that though: I love your mindset. Do what you can when you can, except when you don't. And then through joy and happiness you may one day notice, yes! I do fit into those jeans... or whatever.

Congrats on getting into your "hot" jeans! This was a fantastic post and has inspired me to refocus on the goals that I set out for myself. Also, to rent Pulp Fiction again because that was an spectacular work of film.
