Our Thanksgiving Menu Includes Cat Food

Thank you for the kind response to my last post. I feel a renewed desire to keep working on my book!

I am also the proud recipient of an Editor's Choice award for Pocket Change at Become.com!

Award for Best Mom Blog

And, now, I cannot help but be reminded of last year when I wrote about my son eating money around Thanksgiving time, "Forget Turkey and Stuffing. I'll have Pennies and Dimes."

Last night, Parker ate cat food.

Parker threw up last night, and we thought he was getting sick. We fawned over him, set him up on the couch, and geared up for more vomit. Because, you know that when a child is sick and throws up, it doesn't just happen once. I thought it interesting he didn't have a fever.

Turns out, he gave cat food a try, and his body promptly rejected it.

He is fine. He is not sick. It's time to get ready for our Thanksgiving trip and leave the cats with a big honkin' pile of cat food - and no one to compete with for food.

Blog on Fire Award

Today, I am accepting an award by the gracious MaMe Musings! She is the mom to twins, and I just love her "About Me" description:

Mommy to twins, wife, sister, daughter, aunt, friend, educator, reader, blogger, traveler, political junkie, wine drinker, deep thinker, coffee needer, worry wart, napper, wanna-be entrepreneur, beach lover, a work in progress.

To accept the Blog on Fire award, I must tell 7 things about myself. As if you don't already know too much? Well, there is always more.

1. I do not like small talk.

2. I am currently angst-ing about some revisions on my novel.

3. People need to be more quiet.

4. I love cooking shows.

5. If it were up to me, I'd be in Mexico right now.

6. I have a problem with chewing the skin off of my right thumb.

7. I know I probably just weirded you out with #6, but then that's your problem, not mine.

So, of course with these blog awards, I must spread the love and award it to others. I will go with the first 10 bloggers who made me feel so welcome on Twitter and were excited to see me recently join! These bloggers are on Twitter chatting it up and connecting. It has been fun!

Thank you for your generosity and your blogging hotness:

And You Thought You Knew Me

I must say MUCHOS GRACIAS to two special ladies at A Mountain Momma and Always Just a Mom! They have both been so kind to think of me for The Versatile Blogger Award.

Since the first and second times I accepted this award, I didn’t follow the actual rules, maybe this time I will.

I must list seven things about myself. (Since I have some new followers round here, I figured this would be a good idea.)

1. Sometimes I don’t follow the rules. Rules are meant to be broken, aren’t they?

2. I just now had the privilege of hearing one of my favorite lines in a movie. “Aw, don’t cry little lady. It makes my knees hurt!” (Monsters vs. Aliens)

3. I like to create new vocabulary around what I have termed, “The Psychology of Driving.” For example, the “Seabiscuit Effect” is whenever you try to pass someone on the interstate and they start to speed up just as you get next to them and they realize you are trying to pass them. (When this turns into a stale-mate of passing, I call this, "The Race of the Idiots.")

4. I have a large personal space bubble, and I’m very particular about where I sit in relation to other people. I don’t like to have people sitting behind me.

5. My second toe is longer than my big toe.

6. I use self-deprecation to get people to like me.

7. I am fiercely loyal.

So, there you have it. Some really interesting and important information about me. Now, I will award this to some ladies who have had me laughing lately:

The Suniverse

Mass Hole Mommy

Because Motherhood Sucks

I also want to do a shout out for a fab mom resource out there - The Mom's Guide at www.1Dental.com. It is a guide for Mom's of children of ALL ages around the right kind of dental care and dental tips. Lots of funny and hard-working "mommy bloggers" provided input on this guide, and we are quoted in it, so please, CHECK IT OUT by clicking HERE!

Gratitude Abounds!

So much to be grateful for! My SITS day was wonderful! I am still visiting all the blogs. Whew! It may take awhile! But, I am happy to return the comment love and discover more great blogs out there.

I am also grateful for the fabulous Spring Break we’ve had! Our trip was wonderful, and we survived the car rides. Barely. But, we survived.

There came a time on every driving day when Parker would begin screaming, “GET ME OUTTA THIS CHAIR!!!”

My husband would roll down the window by my son and shout, “Go ahead, Parker! Just yell and get it out!”

Parker would just start wailing out the window, “AHHHHH!”

Then, we would join him, roll down our windows, and scream out the windows.

By the end of it, we would all be laughing, and anyone in a car near us would be very worried.

When that didn’t work, I would strap a candy necklace to the maniac’s wrist, and we would continue on across the country like the idiots we are.

If that weren’t enough, I am also grateful to Nadya Booyse of Journey Keeper for giving me the Stylish Blogger award.

Nadya has a beautiful and inspirational blog. In fact, she just received another blog award in which she nominated some other inspirational bloggers, so head on over and check her out. I have received this award before and you can read about the secrets of my “style” HERE.

Now I must get to visiting blogs, and I will hope that there is a good calorie burn involved after all the Spring Break indulging.

A Sweet Blog Award (Dude)

Thank you to Mama Hen from Mama's Little Chick for a sweet blog award!

How totally appropriate for the oncoming Valentine's Day. In the spirit of love, here is a list of things I am loving right now!

1. I just finished watching My Sister's Keeper (and I have read the book), and I am consumed with gratitude for the health of my child.

2. Last night I got to dance alone in my living room after my bub went to bed. Oh yeah, I rocked it.

3. I have really cool friends.

4. My husband and I have a date night planned for Friday night.

5. Right now, I have a warm house, a comfy couch, and a warm coffee cup while it softly snows outside.

I now give this award to just a few of the blogs I have discovered through The Red Dress Club because I also love to write, and they give some great opportunities for creative writing!

Let's Celebrate in Style!

TODAY, MLK, Jr. Day, marks the one-year anniversary of my blog! So, I am celebrating in STYLE – by accepting a new blog award, The Stylish Blogger Award!

Thank you goes to Anna Walker from Acquainted with the Night for this lovely award.

You know, with these awards comes RULES. I must share seven facts about myself. How about I share seven facts about my own personal STYLE? Sounds appropriate.

Secrets of Kristy’s Style

1. A bra is only required in the work place.

2. A wine or cocktail glass makes for a great accessory.

3. Washing of the hair on an everyday basis is blasphemous.

4. Sometimes, the most fun you can have with an outfit is with jazzy, colorful socks!

5. Thank God for ponytails.

6. Ironing is NOT necessary.

7. One can NEVER have too many “lounging” pants.

To share the love and pay it forward, I must give this award to 15 others. In gratitude for an exciting year of blogging, I will give this award to the last 15 people who have commented on my posts! Because, obviously, if they have commented here, then they too, know what style is.

Everyone Has Irrational Fears, Right?

A dear thank you goes out to Momagement Matters for bestowing me the Versatile Blogger award! This is an award I have received already, but I still eat up all the love I can get like the mega-attention-monger I am.

In the spirit of…versatility…I will do something a little different today.

My Top 10 List of Daily Irrational Fears

10. That I will not be able to poop when I need to.

9. That my pants will suddenly not fit.

8. That I will be asked to perform some feat of accomplishment, and I will fail miserably.

7. That my need for sleep will not be fulfilled. Sleeping rituals include: earplugs ready on the bedside, white noise machines going, pillows situated “just so,” a light breeze (even in deep winter) from the fan above, positive self-talk, etc., etc.

6. That I will have something occur that will interrupt WHAT IS TO BE EXPECTED.

5. That I will run out of wine.

4. That there will be no available coffee between 7:30 am – 11:00 am.

3. That I will be exposed to very annoying things, like sloppy eating, gum popping, dog slobber, ice chewing, apple eating, whistling, and assholes in general.

2. That I have annoyed someone. Other people can REALLY annoy me, so it wouldn’t be too far-fetched to think I have annoyed someone. Please do not tell me if I have ever annoyed you. I am a very sensitive person and would be destroyed.

1. That I have been too honest, therefore, inciting negative opinions about me.

“A Case of the Mondays”

Today I am participating with Monday Mahem and the Three Things Meme!

Jazzy Gal has also given me two awards and asked that I write seven things about myself in order to accept. I will assume that the Three Things Meme below will suffice. (I’m a multi-tasker like that.)

You can also check out my previous posts in which I accepted the Beautiful Blogger award and demonstrated how I was a Versatile Blogger!

On with the game.

3 Places I Would Pack My Travel Bag For

1. My bedroom. Pajamas only. Right now, I really need some sleep.
2. Siberia. I really need some alone time. Siberia is good for alone time.
3. Maybe I wouldn’t mind a cabin in the woods. In the deep woods. With a raging fire.

3 On-Screen Characters I Love To Watch
1. That nurse sidekick on Nurse Jackie. She is so awkward and funny. She’s confident but full of blunders.
2. Toni Collette on United States of Tara. She has multiple personalities, so it’s like watching more than one character, really.
3. Laura Linney on The Big C. This is a new show. Wow. I think it is fearless and fabulous. Laura Linney is fearless and fabulous.

3 Moods That Describe Me The Best

1. Reflective
2. Prone to drama. Expressive.
3. Playful. Sometimes.

3 Things I Always Think Of Doing On A Weekend

1. Sleeping
2. Watching crap TV
3. Eating.
(Perhaps my basic needs are not being met Monday through Friday?)

3 Things From My Childhood That I Can't Forget
1. Patton Bernard. Cabbage Patch kid. Birthday November 1.
2. Carrol. My beloved male (yes, male) cat. What a stink eye he had. He was a moody MF. And he only loved me.
3. Our pool. We grew up in Phoenix. We LIVED in the pool. What a great way to spend a childhood.

3 Things I Would Never Say No To

1. Wine.
2. Laying down.
3. Hugging and loving my bub.
(Not exactly in that order. I guess.)

3 Things I Can't Live Without

1. Wine.
2. Sleep.
3. Access to earplugs while I sleep.

The Prolific Blogger

Drama Mama from The Scoop on Poop gave me The Prolific Blogger Award! Wow. I must really be going places! I don't know where, but it's somewhere.

A blog titled Advance Booking created this award in the spirit of “prolific bloggers, who read voraciously, blog tirelessly and have made the blogging community such a vibrant place. This award is in recognition of their achievements and their enthusiasm.”

There are a couple of rules for this award:

1. Every winner of the Prolific Blogger Award has to pass on this award to at least seven other deserving prolific bloggers. Spread some love!

2. Each Prolific Blogger must link to the blog from which he/she has received the award.

3. Every Prolific Blogger must link back to This Post, which explains the origins and motivation for the award.

4. Every Prolific Blogger must visit this post and add his/her name in the Mr. Linky, so that we all can get to know the other winners.

I am grateful for this little bright spot of an award today.

I award The Prolific Blogger award to (I did eight. I just had to do eight.):

I Am a Foxy Mama!

But, of course, you already knew that. I am the one that needs to be reminded of that sometimes.

Damn it feels good to say it.

I AM A FOXY MAMA!

That's right.

A big thank you goes out to Mommy Spirit for giving me the Foxy Mama Award!

This award is given when a blogger shows 1) they love and would do anything for their children, 2) they're fiercely loyal to their families, 3) they're highly supportive of other bloggers, and 4) they have a wonderful sense of humor and positive attitude that brings both laughter and inspiration to our lives.

That all sounds nice, but I would also like to add that the Foxy Mama Award is for bloggers, who with their insane ability to write, inspire, make others laugh, and make others think - they use this power to make others believe that they are really FOXY HOT! Ha! Fabulous, right?

I will now pass this award on to some others. I wish I could award you all, but my fingers would fall off from doing all the dreaded linky-techy stuff, for crying out loud. And, I want to give out some specific ones because it is always fun to get a little specific recognition, I think.

I also still need to pay-it-forward on the Blogger Rock Star Award that I received a while back from Handbags and Handguns! Here are a few recipients for this kick-ass award:

Wanderlust
Scary Mommy
Mommy Wants Vodka

Now that is all taken care of, let's go drink some champagne and celebrate ourselves! Or drink something. For crying out loud.

Rock Star Award

Handbags and Handguns has given me the Rock Star Award! How freakin' cool is that? Especially from Handbags and Handguns because her blog never fails to entertain me AND indulge my love of celebrity gossip. (I may not give a crap about the whinings and complainings of some people, but I CERTAINLY want to know about what a moron Mel Gibson's been lately.)

Needless to say, I am grateful. The only thing is...I haven't been feeling like much of a rock star lately.

Don't get me wrong. You know that I usually do feel like a rock star - it is our GOD GIVEN RIGHT to feel like a freakin' rock star once in a while, right?!

The sad thing is that one of the women that made me the rock star I am today has been diagnosed with multiple myeloma, and we're just all stunned by this news, and at this moment that I am wanting to write a post, be thankful to Handbags and Handguns, make my readers laugh, and well...all I can really think of is my grandma.

So, near the end of a long work week, with a headache that just won't give up, I need to just be with my family. This is the first night since the week began that I have had this much time home in the evening. My grandma would want me to just BE with my bub, and my hub, and this poor, neglected cat. Off I will go, to do what is most important in my life. Be with the ones I love. Much love to you all.

(I promise I will give this award out to some other awesome Rock Star bloggers sometime soon).

Energy Crisis Solved (& Some Awards, Wheee!)

The irony of this post in comparison to my last post is not lost on me, people. I’m a little contradictory (i.e., schizophrenic) like that, I know. Serenity, calm, and gratitude can also exist within a mind that is like a train gone off its tracks, hurtling toward disaster.

So how ridiculous is it that I can lay awake at night FOR HOURS with my mind spinning out of control and still have the wherewithal to notice my insanity?

Here is just a glimpse of my stream of consciousness in the middle of the night:

Ok, so I’m starting back to work soon and I need new clothes, but I’m supposed to be losing weight AND watching my money, so should I only buy some new shirts or go ahead and buy shirts and pants?? And thinking of money, how many months will it take me to get rid of the balance on my Citi card because I’m going to need a new car soon and the holidays are approaching. Let’s see, if I lose about 1-2 pounds a week (preferably 3-5), how many weeks will it take me to get to my GOAL weight? When I get back to work, WHEN will I write or blog AND workout AND, holy shit, play with my son because good mothers actually PLAY with their child, but I’ll need to fit dinner in at night after work. Perhaps I should just CRACK DOWN and make myself wake up earlier in the morning so I can get the workout in then, so then, after work, I can blog and make dinner. Oh, shit! AND play with my son. Yes. Ok. After work, I will play with my child, then make dinner, then write and blog? Hmmm. That could work if I’m diligent enough…That’s NEVER going to work! Thinking of dinner, I need to remember to put butter on the store list for tomorrow. I will never remember to put it on the list, and I will forget the butter, and we will have no butter. Should I get up now and put it on the list? Will that keep me up even longer because I have walked around and ENGAGED my body in that manner? THEY say it is a good thing to write things down in the middle of the night so you can stop worrying about it. Hmmm. I do not have a pen nearby. Shit. I should really remember to put a pen by my bedside. That article I saw today talked about it not being too early to start your toddler on chores. What chores should we start Parker on? Should I make him a CHART? Is he too young yet? Wait! What TIME is it?! What the hell am I thinking?!

What the hell AM I thinking??! I know I’m not alone on this! If only we could figure a way to power our cities with the energies of a mother’s brain in the middle of the night. We might as well do SOMETHING during the middle of the night. We’re not sleeping anyway!

Ok, enough of that.

I have won awardssss! Yesssss. Not only have I won awardssss, but these are Brand Spankin’ New ones, completely created by the original mind of The Litany of Brittainy! Check them out:

The Chupacabra Award of Excellence! (I do not know what the hell a chupacabra is, nor have I Googled it, but it looks pretty damn cool, right?)

And...

The Duct Tape Award!

It doesn’t get much better than that, people. The Litany of Brittainy must have known how we love duct tape in this family.

Poor Buzz.

You see the duct tape in the background? It is an excellent way to collect empty beer cans (you know, for recycling!), say, when you are at a NASCAR race. Don't mind the man in the picture. This poor dude was in another picture recently on this blog, imitating the cat puke socks. He's getting some bad press lately, eh?

Well, just so he won't feel so bad, I'll post this picture of me for fun:

Here I am outside of that same NASCAR race event getting bucked off a mechanical bull.

I will leave you with that.

Here are the rules of this award:
-Really, you can do whatever the hell you want, but please make sure to thank the person who gave it to you.
-You can list things about yourself, or ramble on like I have, or expose yourself doing amazing things with duct tape.
-You can award it to anyone you want.

Congrats to these really, really fun and good looking bloggers for the Chupacabra and Duct Tape awards:

What is a Blogger with Substance?

What is a blogger with substance?

Me!

(Don’t worry, all the awards lately are not going to my head.)

Thank you to Kerry at Momma May Be Mad for giving me this award. Kerry’s blog is raw, heartfelt, and completely honest. Check her out if you haven’t already and give her some comment love!

Well, somewhere amidst the F bombs and general ranting, there truly is some WRITING and story telling in what I do.

To continue in my self indulgence, I will list some lines from my writing that I feel are full of chewy substance.

Life is a funny, funny thing, and the moment we begin to give it a label, is the moment we lose sight of what it can give us. (from Stripped)

I like the woman I’m becoming now much more. I would never give back the lessons I’ve learned along the way, although I am still working on loving myself just as much as Parker loves his mama. (from Lovefest for Mama)

My only hope is that our learning is as great as from where we came, and our road always leads us home to each other. (from We Regret the Things We Don’t Do)

Only kindness makes sense. (from Feed My Soul. Not My Thighs. (They’ve had enough.)

But anytime you actually start thinking that Supermom can exist, that idea will knock you on your ass. Literally. (from Scenes from an Airport, Part 2)

From that point on, we darkly realized that not only were we on-demand parents, but a new boss had entered our house, and he was very angry. (from Meet Your New Boss. He’s Angry.)

It took me many years and one child to realize that the BEST things in life are not tanned, toned thighs and a flat stomach. (from I’m Too Sexy for my Black Lycra Gown)

I will even admit that after I gave birth, I thought, “Why was everyone so excited when I got pregnant?! They have kids. They should have WARNED me!” (from Welcome to the Club. What’s the Secret Password?)

There are times that life seems to whisper around you. The colors in the world are vibrant, and the feeling in your heart is massive and expanding. (from Love Surpasses All Understanding)

…I stood in the dark house alone for a moment. I looked around and knew that the next time I saw the house, EVERYTHING would be different. The gravity of that pushed down around me…I looked at our cat and knew his world would also never be the same. And that was the last moment that I truly cared what the cat thought.
(from Labor Story)

Our skills cannot be denied, and we are allowed to be in awe of ourselves. (from Mad Skills Mothering)

Even at the worst, there has still been the strong arms of friends, a cool breeze on our face, the sun shining on new spring leaves, warm soup, and frogs. Thank you, God, for giving us…laughter between the utter sadness…Beauty is everywhere and gratitude is thick. (from Home)

So, the bottom line is, given the choice, I choose Friday night family movie nights. I choose take out Chinese and wine at home. I choose going to the restaurants with good kid’s menus. I choose Saturday morning playdates with my friend and her children. I choose to make the people in my life my priority. I choose us. (from Who Loves You, Baby?)

Here are 10 bloggers that I feel also deserve the Blogger with Substance Award (and if you have already received it, well, you deserve it twice!):

Motherhood Uncensored
Diapers and Wine
Mommy Pants
Woogs World
Depressions and Confessions
An Unexplored Wilderness
Tales of Extraordinary Ordinariness

Versatile Blogger

Mommy’s Sippy Cup has been so gracious as to award me the Versatile Blogger award! I have really enjoyed following her blog, and you should too!

Now, here’s the thing. I am going to just kind of make-up my own rules to this award because I’m…versatile like that.

1. Thank the person on your site for awarding you the blog and link back to them.
2. Choose 3 others to give the award and let them know you have done so.
3. Post anything you want that you feel gives an example of your VERSATILITY! It could be a vlog, a cartoon, a post of fiction, a song, a poem, a picture – whatever is a little different from what you usually do.

I love to write poetry but have only posted one poem way back when I first started blogging – you can check that out here. Here is another one in celebration of the Versatile Blogger award!

Highway Song (April 23, 1996)

Driving way out
Nowhere.
You’re on my mind
And your tape’s in the deck.

I’m leaving you
With my foot on the pedal.
And I’m singing on this long winter evening
Without you.

This driving music takes me places
I’ve never been with you.
Don’t you know
I never go home
When my thoughts are a mess?

Don’t you know me by now?

I’m signaling for my destiny
To take a sharp turn.
Freedom calls my name
And the roads are waiting
Long and winding.

I’ve never felt this way before.
But, oh, how I’ve wanted to.

I award these people with the Versatile Blogger award:

Rude Behavior is Innevitable (and an Award!)

Of course, while in Mexico and on our epic journey, there was rude behavior had by all. To me, rude and inappropriate behavior is nothing but FUN, FUN, FUN! I might define it a little differently than everyone else, so here are some examples by everyone that was there (in order from youngest to oldest).

Parker – Besides the expected “NO” shrieking and general two-year old wailing, Parker let loose a mysterious gray cloud out of his butt in the resort pool, jumped up and clicked the stewardess button so many times that nobody came to help (ever), and in a moment of glee threw sand in my face and open mouth.

In true Parker style, strangers called Parker by his name. People at the resort pool knew his name. When he threw a ball back to people from the side of the pool, they shouted, “Thanks, Parker!” I did not know these people. At all. These people are only used to hearing a constant chorus of, “Parker! Parker, here! Parker, no! Parker!” When providing our boarding passes at the end of our journey, the man said, “Ahh, there’s Parker again, you made it.” I looked and realized this man was outside at curbside check-in and had the opportunity to observe Parker deftly sliding out of his stroller while I was busy trying to rip the m******-f***ing car seat out of the car.

Mercedes – Ahh, the tween girl. My precious and beautiful niece with perfected eye-rolling and sporadically surly comments. She has amazing patience with Parker (except when she is trying to sleep in), and I love watching them play together. It brings pure joy to my heart. Honestly, there is nothing truly rude to report here, other than jabs she gave to her dad here and there, but believe me, my brother (the asshole) deserves a lot of it.

Kristy – I know you will be all too surprised to find out that I acted inappropriately at times. It was fabulous. There was one night in which I had indulged in many an alcoholic drink, as will happen on Mexican beach resorts vacations with swim-up aqua bars. Falling occurred. I fell into the pool, on the grassy lawn, on the sand. Whenever this happened, I would look around at the laughing people nearby and shout, “WHATEVER!”

I was having an enjoyable time talking with people at the aqua bar. I was also having a very enjoyable time using the F word. This was brought to my attention to pipe down on the F word. Well, my memory and impulse control was greatly affected at this time, and it kept happening. Whenever I noticed my faux-pas, I would shout, “F***! SORRY!” I would just generally shout to anyone in the area that had the unfortunate placement in the universe to be near me and my rude (but so f***ing fun) behavior.

*I would like to note at this time that Parker napped during aqua bar happy hour.

Scott – My brother is the King of rude behavior, and he will tell you that is true. One of my favorites from my brother went like this, “God, Kristy, I was up in the middle of the night with this horrible heart burn! I was in the bathroom, and I threw up and ORANGE, ACID FIRE came straight out of my mouth! BAAAHHH!” (Like me, my brother uses a lot of growling, expression, and gesturing when telling stories.)

My brother and I kept calling all the young, taut 20-something tan and skinny ones “f***ers” (not to their face, just mumbling it to each other of course). A group of them would walk by here and there, and Scott and I would take turns mumbling to each other, “Go back to your Laguna Beach Hills show, fuckers.”

My brother and I were walking back up to our towels from the ocean, and I thought my brother was going to fall over and die having to hike uphill in sand to get there. We got to the top, and he leaned over catching his breath, stood up and said, “Give me one of my cigarettes.”

Scott kept handing over $20 bills every once in a while to the aqua bar staff. He would say, “Just let me know when I’m in the red!” Every time he ordered, he would order six margaritas at a time. Six. (There were usually only three people in our party drinking.)

Richard – My husband truly must be the sanest one of us, bless his heart. He’s usually either scared and embarrassed or completely entertained by all of us. He has moments though too, of course. None of us in this world are immune. I particularly liked the concoctions he would make. He mixed tequila with margarita mix with Orange Crush soda with Dos Equis and God knows what else (the color was amazing). He found the largest, biggest BOWL of a cup to use and would pass around these wonderfully enticing drinks for all to share. The only thing that really kept his occasional Fucker status in place was when he left on our anniversary morning to go on an overnight biking trip with his BFF man friend (a.k.a, his other wife) in Flagstaff, Arizona (the site of our wedding, no less).

Mom – My mom is this sweet, giving, warm-hearted person. All those around her love her calm and serene energy. She is full of laughter and kindness. But, let me tell you, she can have some fun too, and when she lets loose, we ALL have a good laugh. My absolute favorite one on this trip was when we were driving through the streets of our downtown Mexican city, and Mom kept shouting through the open windows, “FEED YOUR DOGS! HA, ha, ha, ha!” I shouted, “Scott! Put the child locks on the windows and drive faster! Geez!” It was also enjoyable to see her enamored and flirty with our young, stud of a waiter, Eduardo. It was fun to hear her say his name with a deep voice, and she would say, “Ed-UAR-do, our hero.”

Well, my people, I shall end this post with a big THANK YOU to Ma, What’s For Dinner, because she gave me an award! How nice was that to come home from vacay and have an award waiting! Here it is:

Believe me, after describing the rude behavior above, the irony of this award is not lost on me.

Now, to award to some other well-deserving bloggers who brighten my day! (Rules: Thank the person who gave you the award and link back to their site, give the award to 12 other bloggers, and let them know you have given them an award. If you have already received this award, just do what you would like with it and know that you brighten my day!)

Life is Good Award

I was tagged by Oddyoddyo at Dani’s Letters for the Life is Good Award! And, indeed it is!

This girl, Dani, has heart, and I’m so grateful to have gotten to know her. As part of this award, I need to answer the following questions, so. . .Enjoy!

What do you do when you’re bored?
Here are my go-to activities: reading, writing, being on the computer, watching my Tivo list, sewing, looking at Us Weekly, only sometimes scrapbooking.

Are you an autumn, or a spring?
Autumn

Quick! You’re stuck at an airport for hours, and the only options are crossword puzzle, or an old novel nobody’s ever heard of. Which would you pick?
The novel. For sure.

Jane Austen or Emily Bronte?
Ayn Rand

Do you feel prepared for the five other questions coming your way?
Bring them on.

Who’s your hero?
My mom. And Oprah.

Favorite word?
Peachfish (any Tom Robbins fans out there?)

Are you one of those “checklist” people, or are you a “wing it and hope everything goes well” sort of person?
Oooh, just the word “checklist” I like. Order and preparedness, yes.

What phrase has stuck with you in your life?
For crying out loud.

If you were to choose between coffee and tea. . . which would you go with?
Coffee all the way.

Here is this award for six others!
One Fine Wire - Courtney also has another blog site - One Fine Blog Design - she is in the midst of giving my blog a make-over and she has been awesome to work with!
Warsaw Mommy - I have recently discovered her and enjoy her blog greatly!
Baby and Sofia - A beautiful pretty-new mommy!
Diminishing Lucy - A bright spot in blog world!
Lamb Around - She is lots of fun!
Dry As Toast - Still laughing from her sex book reviews!

My Heart Goes Pitter-Patter

I have received awards! Plural! Yesssss. You people like me. You really, really like me. Finding My Weigh has awarded me The Beautiful Blogger award and One Lovely Blog Award (blush, blush)! You must check out Finding My Weigh if you haven’t done so already. She is a fabulous writer and speaks from the heart.

As part of the Beautiful Blogger award, I must state 7 things about myself. Which I will do, even though you know many things about me possibly on a TMI-level (that is teenager/texting/modern-speak for Too Much Information in case you’re like me – a Carrie Bradshaw of modern technology).

1. I am freakishly tall. The last time I was measured by a nurse, I was 6’1”. I usually just tell people that I am 6 feet tall, but you better believe that I use that extra inch when I need to enter my weight on a BMI calculator.

2. Now that my child is getting older, I am learning to love my cat again.

3. Now that my child is getting older, I am trying to figure out the New Me. You are on this journey with me. Isn’t it fun?!

4. I think that very often people take themselves way too seriously.

5. I believe that all the people in your life exist to teach you things about yourself.

6. I think that one of the funniest words in the English language is “fart.” (Come on, admit it, you just chuckled.)

7. I do not think the world is going to hell in a hand basket. I think that everything is going to be alright.

Now I will award these awards to 15 bloggers in order to pass on bloggy love and build good on good. (That’s the way the universe works, people. Or at least, that’s a secret I’ve been told.) I will award this to people I have not yet passed awards on to, but if you have already received this award, forgive me and just bask in the love. These are all blogs that I have greatly enjoyed discovering and reading!

Here are the rules for both awards:
-Thank and link to the person who gave it to you.
-Tell 7 things about yourself.
-Identify 15 recipients.
-Let those people know that they received an award.

Luv to you all!

Honest Scrap Award!

I got a blog award! (Big, cheesy grin) I didn’t even know these existed, but now that I know about them, I want them! This award was given to me by dear Mommy X
Here it is in all its glory!

I am deeply grateful. If I was going to get an award, I would like to have the “Honest Scrap” award. I know that people exist who shy away from recognition, but I am shameless in my desire for positive attention.

To fulfill the instructions of my blog award, I must report 10 random, interesting facts about myself, so here goes!

1. I love wine and I drink a lot of it.
2. I enjoy laughing at myself. The ability to laugh at yourself is very important.
3. When I am mad at people, I like to call them Fuckers. In fact, I am strangely proud of hearing my mom say, “Kristy just calls them fuckers.”
4. I absolutely love to read, and even as a mom, I never quit.
5. I used to smoke like a chimney and swear like a sailor, but now I just swear like a sailor.
6. I am flattered to hear my friends say that I am a very expressive talker, and I can’t help but growl sometimes when driving home a point.
7. I’d like to think I’m not neurotic, but I think I am.
8. I am a reality TV junky. I love junky, trashy stuff, and I love Tivo.
9. I struggle with anxiety. I think the first few months of my child’s life was one long panic attack.
10. I am not having another child.

Well, there you go. Honest scrap.

Here are people that I would like to recognize in the blog world for having Honest Scrap. If you have already gotten this award, you are a more fabulous blogger than me, and you may disregard.
Oddyoddyo, Dani's letters for inspiring poetry in me again
Brenda at Mummy Time for always being a fabulous and entertaining mommy blogger
Mommy Wants Vodka because who can resist a title like that?!
Kathryn at From the Inside Out because I am still laughing about the Olympic activities in her front yard
Smart A$$ Mom because she is interesting
Parenting By Dummies because she feeds my reality TV obsession
Finding My Weigh because she is totally relatable
Mountain Momma - her little girl gives her fits but of course we all think she is just too cute!
So Now What? For making me laugh as soon as the page loaded
Wanderlust for being awesome, interesting, and funny
Sage bloggers, please tell me if I am not “following the rules” correctly or if you have constructive tips for me. I am soooo trying to find my way in all this! Please tell me how to investigate making Mommy X's name a link so that people can easily check her out (I really am that blogger stupid, no heckling please). Love you all. I’d like to thank my son and my husband and my family and the universe and all the children of the world. Thank you.
