Eleven Mile Canyon, Sunday Selections

Photos from our camping trip - Eleven Mile Canyon, Colorado - Labor Day weekend:

My husband thought I was silly for taking a picture of thistle. But, I don't care that it was just a thistle. It's beautiful, right?

Taco Bell for lunch on the drive home!

Of course, here is a photo taken by Parker. I always love finding these masterpieces on my phone after he has been using it.

Rocky Mountain High (Wordless Wednesday)

We are fortunate to have the Rocky Mountains nearby to play in. We live at the base of Cheyenne Mountain/Canyon and Pikes Peak in Colorado. Just a short distance away are many beautiful options for camping.

We went last Sunday night, just the three of us, and it was wonderful...

I could not help but think of my grandma many times, as I sat, surrounded by the majesty of the forest around me. She had a great appreciation for this kind of beauty.

And, of course, some pictures that Parker took:

Sunday Selections

I am participating with Frogpondsrock today for her Sunday Selections meme. You know those photos that sit in a file somewhere and are forgotten? This is the meme that brings them out into the light! Yesterday, I was messing on my phone while at the salon, and I found pictures on my phone that my son took that I didn't even realize were there.

I will add my own little twist and share my Sunday Selection Quote of the Day. I often complain vehemently and violently about the next door neighbor dog, Sparky:

I did not realize how closely my son must have heard me complaining the other night about this vile creature. I went to get him out of bed in the morning when he woke, and his first words to me were, "Mommy, did you buy me a gun so I can shoot Sparky?" Oh, come on, don't give me any grief. Trust me, you'd want to shoot him too.

My Son, The Photographer

Usually when the camera comes out, this is what my son looks like.

He wants the camera. He wants it bad. So, last night I let him have at it, and here is what he got. We’ll title this, “Woody: A Character Study.”

There are many more pictures part of that compilation. I was just giving you a teaser. He also started calling Woody “Dada” while taking these pictures. So, we can add Woody to the list of Dadas (which also includes Jeff Probst and Rich on Imagination Movers). Before he finished, he got this picture of our cat.

He is a surly cat. He is thinking, “That kid will be the end of me. Where did he come from, and can he go back?”

I hope you enjoyed my son’s obvious giftedness and artistic vision. He is now working on an interpretive dance scene for the movie, Cars.
