Happy Family Portraits, or Are We Done Yet? (Almost Wordless Wednesday)

About once a year, we make sure we get our butts in for some family pictures, and you just never know what you’re going to get. My son is not one to “Put your hands here, like that, and put your leg here, now stay like that, and SMILE!” Nope. Those kinds of shenanigans do not work at all on him. Before you can say, “Smile!” my boy is off grabbing the camera, running in circles (literally), running into the prop room, and generally terrorizing the small studio. It was the first time I saw the camera lady get frustrated and impatient.

At one point, we were just dragging over prop after prop to see if anything would catch his attention long enough for the lady to snap some damn pictures. We pulled over a couple of steps. Parker climbed on top, stuck his arms out, and started shouting.

The camera lady said, “What is he doing?”

I smiled (utterly entertained by my own child, of course) and said, “Wait for it.”

And there he yelled, “To in-i-ty and YON!” (translation: “To infinity and BEYOND!”)

He jumped off the steps and was off, making swooshing noises with arms outstretched and running around the studio. Just like Buzz. I was laughing, my husband shook his head and rolled his eyes, and the camera lady? Yeah, not so much.

The camera lady said, “Well, he definitely has personality.”

That he does. But we already knew that. Check out some of the gems we finally managed to capture!

I think she got some GREAT shots, despite her obvious lack of personality and the fact she clearly hates kids. I mean, how cute is your little guy??

I love the one of him with his mouth wide open. These are seriously great.

Back when I was the SITS featured blogger, I bookmarked a few blogs to check out later. It's been over a month, but I'm back. You have a new follower. :)

I totally know the feeling. Pics were so cute and STILL- looking right at the camera until the 9 month session. After he could walk, it's like they are all ON THE RUN shots. Still got some great ones tho!! Cute family pics.

Oh, honey! I don't care how hard these were to get...they're totally worth it!

Ya know how I got my best shots of da boys? Hubby wud take the shot and I'd stand behind him doing a puppet show...(usually involving someone clocking someone else in the head)...they laughed and laughed.

Then when we wanted a family shot (like on vaca) I set up the timer and frame it, then I run and faux-trip to get in the shot. They STILL think that's funny.

What a cutie! I was obssesive about getting pictures taken with my first. The last couple years we've given up on photo studios and hire a professional photographer to shoot our family outdoors. I love the natural setting of the pictures and it honestly is no more expensive. We had some done (including the one in my header and profile) last September but I am already thinking we need more for a blog makeover and Christmas card.

This was so stinkin' funny! I love every single photo. His personality really shines through. :) My 15-year old son was exactly like your son when he was 2. It was definitely an adventure. Enjoy the ride Kristy.
Thanks for stopping by and linking up. Happy Wordless (sort of) Wednesday!

What a cutie! You're experience reminds me of mine last month with my little 21 month old. We were supposed to take Mommy and Me pics for Mother's Day, but he was too busy running around and actually escaping from the studio to have any great shots of the two of us. All I can say is we have to cherish these moments...

You'd think that someone who takes family portraits for a living would be used to having a child running around! Gorgeous photos :-)
