I'd Mom Date Toy Story's Mom

If you are like me and have seen almost every single Pixar or Dreamworks movie at least 8,673,259 times (a rough estimate), then you can relate to some of the following:

-Noticing little details so that you are a Pixar-connoisseur of sorts. For example, the "flies" that buzz around in Cars are VW Bugs.

-Actually quoting movies in meetings at work. I have blurted out in a meeting once (in the style of Buzz Lightyear in Toy Story 1), "WHAT are you talking about?"

-Deeply appreciating (only the first 561 times) the fact that the people who created the movies are adults and must know that parents are desperate for adult humor to be part of all kid movies (e.g., any Shrek movie, Barbie saying to Ken in Toy Story 3, "Nice Ass-cot.").

But, I actually had a NEW thought tonight while watching a Pixar great. The Toy Story mom seems like a rockin' chick. I'd like to kick back a few with her. She's thinking, "Andy's at Cowboy Camp. Time for a garage sale!" She's all, "Andy's going to college! CLEAN the room out!"

So then I got to thinking, what about other, seemingly minor, characters in these movies?

Who are the hidden gems?

-The three friends at the beginning of the movie Monsters Vs. Aliens. You know the ones: the inhaler girl, the coffee girl, and the camera girl. What are they all about? I sense entire lost footage which these three.

-The east coast pigeons on Bolt. What a riot!

-Talk about a character - how about the dentist's daughter on Finding Nemo? Imagine what the teachers say at school about that one. I love her shirt. The details make the funny.

-EDNA! On the Incredibles. LUV her. She's a superhero fashion designer, testing bullet proof suits on crawling babies.

-I think Lightning McQueen's agent, Harv, has some stories to tell. He could spill the beans on all the slutty Mini Coopers and Mustangs that he works for in Hollywood.

-Frank, the combine bull in Cars, is a well-loved character in our home. He was a treasure that I was able to find online and order for Christmas last year. My family could not believe how excited my son was to have Frank. They didn't even know who he was! He is quite an angry dude. I don't know what his story is, but I'm sure it involves a troubled past.

What about you? Any characters out there lurking in the shadows of the movies you watch? Or, am I, as I have always suspected, a whack job with an over-active imagination? Don't leave me hanging...

we have watches all Pixar movies about the same amount of times as you if not more.
love. them. all. I can watch them over and over and they never get old.

I too love the pigeons... and EDNA, oooh Edna, she super cool with her accent and all, I think she was fashioned after Dr. Ruth, you know the sex lady? is she even a sex therapist?

What a great perspective. I too would love to chill out with Toy Story Mom, she really needs a name, and I always thought Edna was the bomb.

No you're totally not a whack job. I think you're just in mommy land where this stuff just takes over. When one of my nephews was five we watched the Santa Claus so many times I could quote it in my sleep. Keep on quoting.....

I, too, love the adult humor in all of the Pixar movies. I always wondered about the dad. Where the heck is the dad? Is she a single mom? And Edna..Love Edna. She's stinkin' funny!

What a fun topic! I absolutely adore the little shrimp from Shark Tale...

Shrimp: [trying to sob his way out of being eaten] Its true, its true! And the other thing is, my sister had a baby and I took it over after she passed away and the baby lost all its legs and arms and now its just a stump but I take care of it with my wife and... and its growing and its fairly happy... and its difficult because I'm working a second shift at the factory to put food on the table but all the love that I see in that little guy's face it makes it worth it in the end. True story.

Sorry for the long comment. I couldn't help myself!

Enjoyed reading this post. I love Pixar and Dreamworks movies, too; althought I haven't watched them as many times as you.

I am happy to report that I haven't watched any of these movies in awhile. It's iCarly over here now. If you ever want to talk about Carly or Freddy you know where you can find me.

I love your take on these things! I feel a little guilty for not being able to think of a single back-up Pixar character I just adored. It's not to say they weren't there, but like most things in my life? I've forgotten what they were just as soon as the credits stop rolling! D'oh.

Love, love, love her.:)
And what about the 2 cats at the beginning of Bolt that mess with him, "You're a goner dog!"
They make me laugh every time . . . along with the pigeons. Re-donk-ulous. Ab-so-lutely Re-donk-ulous.

How about the cool surfer-dude turtles in Finding Nemo? Love them.

I loved the penguins in Madagascar. At least until they got their own show and went all Hollywood on me.

I love Disney movies. The nut job babysitter from The Incredibles is one of my favorites. I also love the VW bugs in Cars. I'm looking forward to part 2!

I love the movie-cartoons for kids these days. I buy them to have on hand when the grand kids visit, but I enjoy them as much as they do. I loved Despicable Me!

Edna! Totally!

I more often see the irresponsible behavior of characters in movies and get worked up. I'm worse with cartoon shows. I'm actually (sadly) planning a post on this very thing.

I just keep finding Disney Characters in my Career. The Paperwork lady Gladys I think her name is who scolds Mike Wisowski in Monsters INC. Now, let me tell ya. I've worked with a few Glaydses in my day. :)
