Funny Kids
I'm bringing you some small delights today, inspired by Sunday Snippets at Pure Unadulterated Softthistle. She doesn't usually do the link for it anymore, but I like to give her a shout-out for it anyhow!
Out of the blue, my boy provided me some philosophical advice, showing him to be wise beyond his years...
"Mommy, sometimes things don't work out."
"That's right, Parker, sometimes they don't," I said as I wondered where this had come from.
He continued, "Yep. Sometimes there's cat puke, and sometimes there's cat POOP!"
"Yes," I laughed, "Sometimes there is cat puke and cat poop."
..........................
We were in the backyard, and Parker came running over to me at the garden.
"Mommy!" He shouted, "Steven's* mommy is outside in her UNDERWEAR!"
I laughed and said quietly, "No, honey, she is in a bathing suit," hoping she hadn't heard.
I had seen her through the slats of our fence, putting up a trampoline in a bikini. My son has never seen me in a bikini. I prefer the maximum coverage type of bathing suit these days.
I had to resist telling Parker, "Why don't you go tell her to put some clothes on?"
...........................
I am a school psychologist. I have been working with an eight year old boy who has difficulty taking responsibility for himself without throwing fits, crying, and whining. He tends to have instant, huge reactions to small problems. He also is quick to be aggressive with other kids as a way of solving simple play problems.
There he stood at the doorway of my office, speaking in the sometimes cute manner of mispronouncing his "r" sounds.
"Hi, Mrs. Lorenzen," he gave me a toothy smile and waved his hand a little.
"Hi, Billy*," I said.
"Kevin* cut in front of me in line today, and I wanted to give him a bloody nose, but I didn't. I told the teacher," he said and then smiled.
Oh boy, we still have some work to do, I thought. I said, "Well, thank you, Billy. That's a start."
*All names of people outside of my family have been changed.
Have any funny kids around making you smile?

This morning my son wanted some grapes but got frustrated with the fridge drawer saying, "I hate these drawers in the fridge. They drive me crazy!"
He also informed me he's a morning farter.
It's great when things don't turn out and you can have a laugh about it ;)
my 9 yr old daughter just told me how the littlest pet shop toys have been changing over the years. i said, "yeah, you've changed over the years too. so have i. i got fatter." she looked at me & then said, "you think that's an accomplishment?"
My kids are always saying things that make me smile. Tonight it was them singing their A-B-C's and totally getting the order wrong.
When my grandson was 4, one day he asked, "Memere, what color is your underwear?" Wondering where this was going, I answered, "Pink." "What kind is it?" I said, "It's called Just My Size." "oh," he said, "and how about you, Papa Joe?" he asked Mr. Eva. "Mine are white,"
Mr. Eva answered. Just when I was beginning to worry about what was going on, grandson pulled down his pants and showed us his brand new Spiderman underwear!
Being around kids is fun. I love them very much, not only smile, but laugh in happiness.
I love the cat excrement analogy.
This morning I played "Wonder Pets" on the computer for Chubbs while I made breakfast. He asked me to make the video bigger, so I clicked the "full screen" option. I didn't even get my hand off of the mouse before Chubbs told me, "It's not big enough, Mommy."
Well excuuuuuuuuuse me!
It's a good start that Billy told the teacher instead of giving some kid a bloody nose. You must be doing a good job.
Hi Kristy! My baby son is 20 and he still makes me laugh. He got a new car last week and on Wednesday evening he phoned me to say his keys were stuck in the ignition... I said "Is the car in park?" He hung up! LOL I took that as a "No". Problem solved. :-)
I uesd to enjoy doing the Sunday Snippets. Funny stuff from your Parker...and I really liked your final snippet! It is indeed a great start;-)
xx Jazzy
Parker is a smart, smart boy! Sounds like he already has this world figured out :)
That last one really had me cracking up- at least that's progress!
Very cute and I have a Parker too :).
Love the snippets!

Always! It's so funny when kids make serious or philosophical statements.
Kids are just so unfiltered that it's impossible not to laugh!
Love these! The neighbor in underwear had me rolling!! LOL!! I love their perspectives and how they just blurt out whatever they are thinking!
I frequently want to give people bloody noses and don't. I'm proud of that little guy. :)
I'm with you on the maximum coverage swimsuits! In fact, I'm still pretty much in the shorts-and-tee stage of swimming. :)
Last night, Li'l D and I spent a half-hour belly-flopping on my bed. Apart from his saying, "Mommy funny!" there were few words involved, but there were many, many smiles.
I know he's said some sweet/amusing things, but I've failed to write them down in the journal I bought for that purpose. I need to get better about that, because writing things down is pretty much the only way I'll ever recapture them as more than shadows.
Hey, that's progress! You did well! Kevin has no idea how lucky he is. LOL! :-)
And I love Parker's infinite wisdom of cat puke and cat POOP. Too funny!
My youngest step-daughter says the craziest things. I can't remember them all (need to write them down). But she has a little bit of a speech/word thing. She told Jason that his life wanted him. What she meant was his wife. Me. We loved that. I'm Jason's life (or wife). HA.
I love these small delights - especially the cat puke & poop because he's right, s**t happens!
I love the cat puke and cat poop wisdom. that's one wise child!
Now that we are in the potty training phase; it's pretty funny what comes out of her mouth. Love the underwear comment.
