I Will Even Let You Have the Last Cookie

In the time of pre-child, if I saw a mother having to share her food with her child, I would think, “That sucks.”

I didn’t ever want to share my food. ESPECIALLY at a restaurant. It was ALL mine.

I was the type that would slit my eyes suspiciously if anyone wanted to “share” or “taste” each other’s plates. I ordered what I ordered because I wanted it, and I wasn’t sharing anything.

I love food.

The poor mothers who would say, “Oh, I’ll just let him eat off my plate,” or the poor mothers who offered up their food to their children because it would make them so happy, so happy if their child could eat a little more. Poor mothers.

I guess I won’t make a very good mother because my child’s going to have to eat their own damn food, is what I thought.

Of course, I was wrong.

It bothers me not one bit to share my food with the little bird by my side. I am pleased and proud if he will just try something new off my plate! I have no hesitation in giving myself less or sharing whatever I have so that he can have more.

I am a good mother. I’ll share my food with you, my bub.

There is something so powerful about that bond that is simply changes everything!

I don't mind sharing my food with my child, I will even share the last bite.

My drink though not so much. I don't like to share that, really I would just rather it give it to them. Waaaaaayy to much potential for backwash.

Everything changes when you become a mommy - you just don't know how much until it happens.

I'm ok with sharing my food, only because she only eats two bites! No point ordering a whole plate for her to pick at and ignore!

I do find myself saving the things I'd rather not share for nap time though! Hehehehe Other than those things (whatever they may be,) you can have whatever you want!

Am I a bad mother because I didn't want to share my sides last night while we were dining out? I ordered them their own...

:-)

one of the many wonderful changes that come with being a mama. :)

Isn't it funny how our whole outlook on life takes a different angle once we become mothers?

It's just something about being a mom! I was the same way, but I'd give my chick my whole plate if she asked for it. (Nicely, of course.)

You are a good mother! I have the same problem: I hate sharing food. You know when you go to a restaurant and everyone wants to order a bunch of dishes to share? NO! I want my own plate with no one else messing with it. Admittedly though I do share with my kids.

Ah yes, all the things we said we wouldn't do (pre motherhood) now we do. I cringe thinking about how harshly I used to judge moms. To all of them I'M SO SORRY!

Aw, that's so sweet.

So, you can't relate to me hiding my favorite treats in my closet and sneaking off to eat them so I don't have to share?

My family have a different culture. It's okay to share our food to others.

Ah yes I remember those days too. I don't mind sharing - I just wish I could order what I like, instead of what my children are prepared to eat. Macaroni cheese just doesn't cut it over a crispy duck and chilli salad ;) Thanks for visiting my blog today :)

It's surprising how we lose that selfish streak with our kids. I love sharing too!

---I shared my food and they shared, too....I gained lots of weight like that !! :)

I know exactly what you mean. Although this is why I hide the Godiva chocolates til after bedtime.

I used to feel like that but lately I've gone back to being selfish. And I NEVER share drinks with my one and two year olds. If they drink from my glass I forfeit it. Otherwise I'll have to chew my beverage. Yuk!

I love to share my food with my boys...now. I think it makes me happy because they are trying a new food! But I agree with the others, I don't share my drink when they are young AND I have a private mommy stash.

What a nice post. I love sharing food even though I don't have children. My niece's husband is a little perturbed when we all dine out, cause we all expect to share food, except him, LOL.

haha, loved that episode of Friends. I have been forced to share food by my husband who is ALWAYS stealing bites off my plate, the stinker. So I'm prepared for the inevitable from his future spawn. ;-)

I used to share food with proper utensils or segmentation, but now it's par for course to have little fingers in my food. I enjoy the feeling of providing that comes with that. ♥

For the past 11 years there hasn't been a moment where I have had a plate of food to myself.. but my three year old makes her own rules when it comes to my food. We share food, but when she skims her toddler hands across my drink, I give in and just let her have it all :)

Loves this post, made me smile!

When I was pregnant, I thought I was going to be a terrible mother because CP always saved me the last bite, but I would never, ever do the same.

Now, not only do I share with Chubbs, I eat the slobbery leftovers if he decides he doesn't like it. Motherhood... ain't nothin' like it. (Also, I may have food issues. :P)
