Wanna Play?

Something wonderful has happened around here!

For the first time, my boy was asked by a neighbor kid to play outside.

We are entering into an era where The Child can play outside, and I can keep an eye on things here and there while I'm inside.

My son is an only so it sure is nice that he has some other kids to play with, and they're not in my house fighting like brothers and sisters do.

He was so excited by playing with kids outside, he emphatically nodded his head saying, "Yes, Mommy," as I told him, "No going in the street!"

As the kids ran around the front yard, I could see Parker run by in a flash with his hand out in front "spraying" spider webs and shouting, "Here comes Spider Man!"

It's amazing how he's getting older and bigger at lightning speed. His fourth birthday is next week, and it is the first age where being a "big kid" is very important to him.

Obviously, we have not yet hit the phase where being "cool" is extremely important. Thank God.

Love it! My almost 6 year old just had her first, "I just called to chat" call with a friend of hers today. They grow up so fast.

So nice that he had a kid ask him to play. I wish we had some kids in the neighborhood so my kids could play instead of expecting me to entertain them all day.

Yes, I'm noticing my three year old becoming more independent too. Isn't it fun! It's a win-win for everyone because it gives me some personal time so that when it's time for me to spend time with Lewis, I feel refreshed and ready to play. Yay for age 4!

Being cool doesn't come for a long time!! For some kids it never comes though.

I can't wait for the time when I let my son play outside! We're on a busy road and our yard isn't fenced in so no going out at all without me.

I remember being very excited to be able to go out and play every day.

And you know what? Your kid looks VERY cool.

I'm so not looking forward to the phase where being cool is important - it takes the fun out of everything!

I would think that in the world of 4-year-boys, that Spiderman mask is very cool indeed!

I'd love it if another 54 year old asked me to come outside and play. Too bad we grow out of some things...

WOOHOO I love the costume. What a cutie. I imagine it is freeing and liberating to let him play and just peek on him instead of having to supervise constantly. It is probably really fun for him, too!

Oh... the cool phase... Lots and lots of pinot....

It is a major milestone when our kids start playing outside :). My daughter's also an only child, so moments when she gets to play with the neighbors are precious. Yes, it's better than having siblings to fight with inside the house.
