Why do people visit my blog?
If you are a blogger, and you are ever bored, I highly suggest taking a look at recent keyword searches that have landed people on your blog. It can be interesting, funny, poignant, and scary all at the same time!
Interesting
Since the beginning of my blog, I have two phrases that repeatedly land people on my blog.
“How do you make love stay?” (along with some kind of Tom Robbins, Still Life with Woodpecker reference) I have blogged about Tom Robbins’ material here and here. I just never realized that so many people would have constant interest in this phrase and Tom Robbins together. The book was written in 1980, but must have some kind of cult following!
“If it wasn’t this, it’d be something else.” I blogged about this as being one of my favorite quotes from a movie, Elizabethtown. I find it interesting that people constantly search this entire phrase and share my love for it!
Funny
“shell shocked by colicky newborn” Well, whoever searched that came to the right place!!! I hear ya, been there, done that, and am blogging about it. If you choose "colic" on my search terms, you will come up with the following posts:
Are You Fixable?
Are You Cut Out to be a Mom?
Meet Your New Boss. He's Angry.
The New Mom 'Look'
THE Reflux
Are You Going to Have Another One?
“badoo montreal pee pee haha” WTF? This phrase landed on this post.
Poignant
“What to do when you don’t feel cut out to be a mother” Whoever this was, I feel for, and I’m so glad she found me and read my post on this subject. This is why I blog. Because I felt like this too, and I felt alone. We are all so not alone. We are connected in more ways than we realize.
Scary
“Little boys in big trouble with mom” Hmmm. What is this searcher’s intentions here? A little shady I think. Unfortunately, my blog ranked #1 on Google for this search term and landed someone on my post, “Little Kid, Big Trouble,” and I hope they were highly disappointed to merely read about myself as a child committing graffiti with this catchy line, “I’m a mean mother fucker from Sesame Street gonna kick your ass from street to street.”
Peace out.

I read you blog because you're always interesting and fun.
Love Tom Robbins. Nobody gets to my blog by anything interesting. It's usually fucking Gwyneth Paltrow. Ugh.
I love looking at what people found my blog with. It always cracks me up. But I really wonder what people were actually looking for.
I never get anything really bizarre for search results. You're having all the fun!
Haha how crazy is that? You just never know how people get to your blog. Thanks for sharing!
i need to do one of these searches. kinda scared of what i would find!
Hilarious! Gotta love search engines. SEO at it's finest.
Mine seem to relate mostly to TV. That should probably concern me.
Poignant:
Just seeing the search term "is there hope with mental illness" led someone to one of my posts made me weep for several minutes. They clicked the NAMI link at the bottom of the entry; I hope they felt there was some hope! It made me appreciate more fully the power of blogging, which is as you said "We are connected in more ways than we realize."
Scary: These remind me of a couple search terms that led to my page. The first one I could see being something an artist would search for, having seen a very specific image they wanted to draw: "smiling picture naked little girl." The next one? My first thought was that it was also possibly art-related, but that last about a half-second before my disgusted moment o' yech: "little girl like big doodle"
lol... i have some pretty scary searches leading people to my blog :P
Yours are at least funny!
Ha ha! Too funny!
It is entertaining to see those searches. Yours just proves people are are crazy and similar.
I love your graffiti line from childhood!
I found your blog because of the Pinot. Any mom who love wine is a friend of mine. And I clicked on this post because I was intrigued by the Tom Robbins book cover. I read that book in college and loved it. Maybe I should read it again?
Cheers. VB
I started following your blog after checking it out via a friend. I love it, always so funny and interesting.
I don't know how I found your blog, but that's totally interesting. How do you see what keywords people search for? I wonder how people find mine as well. Great post as always!
I'm not sure if I love the search results or the awesome photos more!
Looking at search phrases is so much fun! Yours are way funnier than mine heh.
haha - as an experiment I just Googled "Pinot gives you constipation?" and got straight onto a post you did a year ago!! First page :-)
my most frequent hit is "sexy bears"
The colic...sigh. I am really terrified of it. Of it happening all over again. I cling to the fact that ALL those nosy people who like to comment on all things pregnancy/baby have told me how different all their kids are. I have fantasized that this baby will be my easy going, low-key, go-with-the-flow baby.
But...OMG....what if he isn't??
In that case, I resolve that I am more experienced and can handle things better than I could 3 years ago. Scared doesn't even sum up traveling down this new path....the path with 2. Yikes!
I like reading the keyword searches that land people on my blog too. But sometimes it blows my mind - people can be so weird. I just wrote a post about something along these lines. For a shock and a laugh, you should check it out.
So happy to have found your blog. I look at those keyword searches too...always entertaining!
I read your blog first time today, because i was using a search engine searching for "graffiti"... and was led here. :-)
