Can we play outside while I lay on the couch inside?
So I mentioned in my last post that my husband and I are brilliant summer parents. Except for the days that we drop the maniac at daycare, it is funny to note the differences between Daddy-chosen activities and Mommy-chosen activities. When there are days in which only one of us is around for whatever reason, Parker's days can turn out quite different. All the better to round him out, no?
Activities with Daddy:
Go to the zoo
Hike
Bike to a park
Bike around the block
Bike anywhere
Work outside, water plants, mow the lawn, etc.
Play ball, catch, football, hockey, basketball, baseball, golf, or anything that involves the aforementioned OUTSIDE
Activities with Mommy:
Popcorn and movie
Shopping, particularly at Target
Arts and crafts: painting, play-doh, coloring
Wii (for getting exercise INSIDE where the AC runs)
Playing board games
Run errands
How about you? Do you find that you prefer/not-prefer certain activities with your child?

I'd like to think I'll be an outdoorsy, active parent, and I'm sure I'll do some of the things on your husband's list, but your list sounds so much more like me.
Oh yeah definitely! My husband and daughter water a special tree and 'play rough'. While I like to do the artsy stuff or read and of course run the errands with her. Very different styles but it works
Haha when I have kids my activities will totally look more like the ones you do ;-)
I like *quiet* activities and leave the active stuff for my husband. I get to hear their noisiness all the time, and any opportunity to experience the calm side of my children is welcome.
The problem in my house was always the fact that my two kids enjoyed totally different activities - one wanted fast-paced adventures and outings, the other, (more of a homebody) liked crafts, stories and routines. So getting both of them involved in any activity was a little like trying to herd cats.
We do things the same way!
I am so with you, I like to stay inside with the A/C
Tough one....my kids are 37 and 39....
i don't mind being outside - my boys are actually better at entertaining themselves outdoors - bugs/dirt...nuff said. :)
however, wrestling and 'tickle monster' - that's daddy territory for sure!
Since I'm casper white, the outside is not my friend. Pie loves it so much that I try to suck it up, but things with the AC are much better!
Ha! Daddy gets the exciting stuff here- b/c it's rare that it's his turn.
For us the daddy activity is usually a simple movie selection. Mommy activities depend on how much sleep Mommy has gotten.
Hmmm....at my house Daddy's idea of spending time with the kids is to take a nap with them.
Sounds like the perfect balance! I wish anyone luck in getting my guy outside!
xx Jazzy
The outdoor activities cease for me around late April. It is already 103 here and technically we still have 2 weeks until summer starts. OY!
Daddy is in charge of all things outside: baseball, golf, basketball, etc. I handle the indoor fun.
Kinda like you guys;)
Sounds like you have the perfect combo! It's all about balance right? :)
Ha ha! Too funny!
Lila and I tend to go to the library or bookstore, sit around and cut out magazine pics and glue them to things...Her and Daddy do all the "fun" stuff.
Yes, there are definitely some differences around here too. Daddy loves to take my son out to the playground on his bike. I like to take my son on playdates so that I get to have a little fun too!
Great blog! Thanks for stopping by to check out my blog. I'm a new follower!
